Fredericksburg Moms LLC ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using Fredericksburg Moms, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

Name and email address when you create an account
Profile information you choose to add, such as your photo, neighborhood, interests and your children's ages (we ask parents for children's ages only to show age-appropriate events and activities; we do not collect information from children)
Your mobile number, if you sign up for text alerts
Payment information, processed by PayPal (we never see or store your card details)
Group posts, replies, direct messages, events, deals and business listings you submit
Information you enter in a business's "Get in touch" form or a giveaway entry
What you type into the Adventure Planner
Messages and support requests you send us

Information from Facebook: If you sign in with Facebook or verify your profile with Facebook, we receive your name, email address, profile photo and Facebook user ID. We use this to create or verify your account. We never post to Facebook for you.

Information collected automatically:

Device type, browser and operating system
Pages viewed and features used within the app
Approximate location (city or region level, if you allow it)
IP address and session data

2. How We Use Your Information

To create, verify and manage your account
To process membership payments, send receipts and renewal reminders
To personalize your experience and show relevant local content
To send the notifications you choose in your settings
To send marketing emails and texts only if you opted in
To keep the community safe, including filtering language, reviewing reports and enforcing our Community Guidelines
To respond to your support requests
To improve the app and understand how it is used
To comply with legal obligations

3. Marketing Emails & Text Messages

Email. We send marketing emails only if you opt in at sign-up or in your Profile. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can turn marketing email off anytime in your Profile. Account emails such as receipts, password resets and renewal reminders are still sent.

Text messages. We send marketing texts only if you opt in with your mobile number. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or text message opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. We share it only with the text message provider that delivers our messages for us.

Consent records. When you opt in or out of email or texts, we keep a record of what you agreed to, when, and where. We keep these records even if you delete your account, because they show we only contacted people who asked to hear from us.

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as described below.

Local businesses you contact

When you use a "Get in touch" form on a business listing, the name, email and message you enter are sent to that business so they can reply. This is shown on the form before you send it.

Giveaway sponsors

When Fredericksburg Moms runs a giveaway with a local business, entrants' name, email and phone number may be shared with that sponsor. We always disclose this at the point of entry. You can opt out of future messages from the sponsor directly with them.

Other members

Your display name, photo, neighborhood and the posts you share in groups are visible to other members who can see that group. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you message.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members or the public.

5. Data Retention

We keep your personal data while your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile > Delete my account), we delete your profile, posts, comments, messages and saved items right away, and remove any remaining copies within 30 days. We keep payment records where the law requires (generally up to 7 years) and email and text consent records as described in section 3.

6. Your Rights

Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data
Delete your personal data (you can do this yourself in Profile)
Opt out of marketing emails and texts at any time
Receive a portable copy of your data

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not run ads in the Fredericksburg Moms app. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

8. Children's Privacy

Fredericksburg Moms is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Parents may share their children's ages to personalize content, but we do not collect children's names or other information about them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at info@fredericksburgmoms.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), database access controls and secure password storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice, and the effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
